Evo Barrier – 1m Water-Filled Traffic Barrier

Price range: £29.50 through £34.50 ex. VAT

The Evo Barrier is a UK-made, water-filled traffic barrier measuring 1m long, 400mm deep and either 500mm or 555mm high. Moulded as a single piece from UV-stabilised polyethene in high-visibility red or white, each unit weighs just 7kg empty and around 35kg once filled. Interlocking male and female ends link barriers into a continuous, gap-free run for traffic separation and pedestrian safety. Integrated forklift slots make handling easy, empty units stack for storage, and the barrier is MIRA tested and 100% recyclable.

Description

The Evo Barrier creates a low-level, highly visible wall for separating vehicles from people, whether you need it for a few hours or as a long-term fixture. Left empty, it’s light enough for one person to position by hand; filled with water or sand, it has the mass to hold a line, guide traffic and keep a work area clearly defined.

It’s a popular choice for roadworks and lane closures, site and car park entrances, marathons and cycling events, motorsport circuits, festivals and any situation where you need to direct movement and reduce the risk of accidents. Beyond traffic management, the Evo Barrier also works as a stabilising base for Heras fencing panels, helping prevent panels from being pushed or blown over.

Each barrier is a single moulded unit with no loose parts to lose, and the red and white colour options give you flexibility for both highway-style demarcation and event or pedestrian use. Because it’s manufactured in the UK from UV-stabilised polyethylene, it stands up to prolonged outdoor use without the colour fading or the plastic becoming brittle. However, alongside the Evo Barrier, we also supply a wide selection of traffic management systems suitable for highways, construction sites, utility works and event management. Key Features and Benefits

  • Quick to deploy: at 7kg empty, barriers can be carried and positioned by hand, then filled on site through the top cap.
  • Gap-free runs: male and female ends interlock so barriers connect into a continuous wall with no openings for people or vehicles to slip through.
  • Stable when filled: around 35kg once filled with water, or fill with sand where you want a heavier, semi-permanent line.
  • Easy to move in bulk: moulded-in forklift slots let you shift filled barriers without manual handling.
  • Space-saving storage: empty units nest and stack, so a full run packs down into a small footprint.
  • Built to last outdoors: UV-stabilised polyethylene resists sunlight, weather and impact.
  • Tested performance: MIRA tested, with linked barriers (three or more) rated to withstand wind speeds of up to approximately 55mph.
  • Expandable system: compatible with mini mesh fencing panels, 90-degree corner sections, flashing beacons and reflective posts.
  • Environmentally responsible: a single material, 100% recyclable at the end of life.

Typical Applications

Roadworks, lane and road closures, repair and maintenance on busy roads and bridges, site and car park entrances, pedestrian walkways and channelling, marathons and running events, cycle races, motorsport circuits and racing tracks, festivals and large public events, and as a fall-prevention base for Heras fencing.

Not every project requires the same type of traffic safety system, which is why we also supply the Titan barrier, giving contractors another reliable option for pedestrian control, traffic management and temporary site safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each barrier is 1m long and connects end to end, so a 10m run needs roughly 10 barriers, a 20m run roughly 20, and so on. Order one extra if you want a closing section or a return at a corner.

Both perform the same job; the difference is visibility and matching the existing kit. If you’re tying into barriers, beacons or fencing already on site, pick the height that lines up. If it’s a standalone run, the taller 555mm option gives slightly more visual presence for drivers.

No. They ship empty, so they’re light to handle and cheaper to transport, then you fill them on site through the top cap with water (or sand for a more permanent installation).

Water expands as it freezes, so for cold-weather or long-term use, it’s worth leaving an air gap when filling or using sand instead. The polyethylene itself is designed for outdoor use, but no water-filled barrier should be filled solid in freezing conditions.

The interlocking ends are designed to join Evo to Evo. To link into a different system, you’d use a transition section or simply butt the runs together; if you’re combining products, contact us, and we’ll confirm what fits.

The Evo is a water-filled demarcation and traffic-separation barrier rather than a board-style Chapter 8 sign barrier. For schemes that specifically require Chapter 8 red/white boards, we stock a dedicated Chapter 8 Barrier. Check your traffic management plan, or ask us, and we’ll point you to the right product.

Drain through the cap, tip out any residue, and the empty units stack and nest together for compact storage and easy transport to the next job.
